Gwyneth Lewis, the first National Poet of Wales, who wrote the six-foot-high words on the front of Cardiff's Wales Millennium Centre, will give the CACEC lecture on the topic “The Poetic Calling: Does it Strengthen or Poison a Life?” Using examples from the work of poets such as George Herbert, Robert Frost, John Berryman and Lucile Clifton, she will explore the mysteries of metaphor and rhyme and what both can do to those who enter into them. Rachel and Sian would like to lied you on a musical journey of rare and treasured operatic gems topped with a sprinkling of sunny Spanish rhythms served with some real home grown Welsh favourites. Rachel was born and raised in Port Talbot. A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she won the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir Award and was twice awarded the Laura Ashley Foundation Scholarship.
