Saturday 18th November 2017: Rachel Morás (Mezzo Soprano) and Sian Davies (Accompanist)
Rachel Morás was born and raised in Port Talbot. A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she won the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir Award and was twice awarded the Laura Ashley Foundation Scholarship.
Her operatic roles include Sorceress Dido and Aeneas (RWCMD; Benslow Baroque Opera; Musica Rediviva) Madame de la Haltiere Cendrillon (RWCMD) Nursing Sister Suor Angelica, La Frugola Il Tabarro (Co-opera) Hunstman Venus and Adonis Black Cat/Squirrel L’enfant et les sortilèges (Opera Mint) Cherubino (Musica Rediviva) Anna Maria Stuarda (Operatique) and Carmen (Musica Rediviva; Opera in Situ.)
Oratorio performances include Bach’s St John’s Passion, Haydn’s Harmonie Messe, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel’s Messiah and Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle amongst others.
Rachel recorded the roles of the Black Cat and the Squirrel in Ravel‘s L’enfant et les sortilèges for a pioneering music educational programme for primary school children.
Future engagements include Tancredi in an all-female production of Monteverdi’s Il Combattimenti di Tancredi e Clorinda.
