Based in Cardiff, Glen's main interests musically lie in modern acoustic straight ahead jazz, and his major influences have been Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Stitt, Phil Woods, Andrew Speight, and Mario Rivera.
He has performed with Steve Waterman, Leon Greening, Adam King, Matt Home, Osian Roberts, Huw Warren, Iain Ballamy, Martin France, Thad Kelly, Gary Willcox, Mike Pyne, Brian Waite, Paula Gardiner, Matt Otto, and Wayne Batchelor.
He currently leads a number of small groups: the Glen Manby Quintet, Quartet and Trio. He has previously taught saxophone at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and was a part-time lecturer in music at the University of South Wales for 12 years. He is currently a visiting jazz saxophone tutor at Cardiff University School of Music.
