Chris Glynn: Five Finger Exercise

An illustrated musical escapade celebrating the piano as engine of creative learning and play. Includes music by JS Bach, Amy Beach, Handel, Poulenc, Satie and Benjamin Teague, with improvisations and short readings by the performer.  With the Wrong Note Ensemble and the Penylanian Radio Chorus. Bring a sketchbook if you’d like to draw. In association with: Coleridge in Wales, The University of Wednesdays, Drawing Partnerships.


Chris Glynn

Illustrator, musician and educator,  Chris has drawn live at many public events and meetings.  With piano-making and music hall in his genes, Chris studied Music and Drama at Aberystwyth University and for PGCE at Goldsmiths College under Janet Rittermann. He taught music in secondary education, worked with Children’s Music Workshop and other UK arts organisations as an animateur, and in animation as a designer, layout and storyboard artist. Chris set up and led the BA Illustration course at Cardiff School of Art & Design 2007-14 and continues to work there as a Senior Lecturer, leading trans-disciplinary projects. He is a founder member of the Illustration Research network.

As part of Parry & Glynn and Coleridge in Wales, Chris has performed on keyboards at the National Museum of Wales, the Residence of the French Ambassador in London, Hay Festival, Gorsedd yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol, Newport Cathedral, Cardiff University, Oxford and Cambridge Universities. and RISD in Providence, USA.
