St Edward's Music & Arts Festival 2013

Festival Art Exhibition: Hymn illustrations by Gareth Griffiths.

Wed 9 Oct. 7.45pm. St Edward’s. Cardiff County & Vale of Glamorgan Symphonic Brass. Programme includes Elsa’s Procession to the Minster (from Lohengrin), O Star of Eve (from Tanhauser), Siegfried’s Funeral March (from Gotterdamerung)  and The Ride of the Valkyries (from Die Walkure) all by Wagner. Also the Nabucco Overture (Verdi). Nicolas Harris will sing Canzone del Salice and Ave Maria (both from Otello by Verdi), and Gareth Blake will sing Tu Sul Labbro (from Nabucco) and Il balen del suo sorriso (from Il Trovatore) both by Verdi. St Edward’s Music & Arts Festival.

Fri 11 Oct. 7.30pm. St Edward’s. Peter Fielding (clarinet), Alistair Noden (cello) & Alison Dite (piano): Beethoven clarinet Trio op.11. and Weber’s Grand Duo Concertante.

17-22 Oct. St Edward’s Schoolroom. Cognition: Photographic Exhibition by students of BA (Hons) Photography at the University of South Wales: Sophie Simon, Chelsea Edwards, Nia Manning, Alexandra Robbins, Bill Bryant, Heidi Smith, Sammy Hamilton, Amy Shorter, Brittany Sims and Katie Graham. Thur 1pm-6pm; Fri/Mon/Tue 11am-5pm; Sat/Sun 11am-4pm  (part of the “Made in Roath” Festival).

Sat 19 Oct. 11am. St Edward’s. Coffee Concert: ‘Opus8’ – Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no 5 and the B minor suite. Opus 8 are Elinor Buglass (flute), Ulrich von Hecker (violin), Franziska Jones (violin), Claire Sanderson (viola), James Ottley (cello) and Carl Grainger (harpsichord). £2 inc coffee and biscuits.

Sat 19 Oct. 7.30pm. St Edward’s. Iolo Jones (violin) & Jayne Thomas (piano). Programme includes Sonata in A minor (Vivaldi), Sonata No.6 in G Major (Bach), Sonata in A Major (Mozart) and Five Madrigal Stanzas (Martinu). St Edward’s Music & Arts Festival.
