INTRODUCTORY STAGE

The congregations, and all the organisations that meet in the buildings, were invited to contribute, both verbally and by submitting letters in support of the overall project and suggesting areas where improvements are needed.

The letters, and the views expressed, were used as the basis of an Options Appraisal Document outlining a brief history of the church, the development of substantial community activity on the site, and the overall objectives of the project.

An initial appeal was made to potential benefactors for donations and fund-raising events were discussed.

Amanda Needham of Volute Architects was appointed as architect.

An application to National Churches Trust, for a grant towards the cost of the architect's plans, was successful and funding of 50% (up to a limit of £1500) of the architect's fees for work up to RIBA Stage 1 was obtained.

After a number of site visits and detailed discussions the architect produced a feasibility study which has been incorporated into the Options Appraisal Document (pdf, 2MB, available below).

The Options Appraisal Document, including the architect's plans, was submitted to the Diocesan Advisory Committee and has been approved.

Architect: Amanda Needham of Volute Architects.
The first phase of the project is supported by a grant from National Churches Trust.
