St Edward's Festival , 19th October 2019 at 7.30pm:
Leonardo da Vinci 1452 – 1519: A Life in Music and Words
Roath Recorder Consort and Fountain Choir
with Scott Baker (Lute & Renaissance Guitar)
A concert of instrumental and vocal music and readings, in Italian and English from the time of Leonardo, commemorating the 500th anniversary of his death.
Performed by Roath Recorder Consort with Scott Baker (Lute and Renaissance guitar) and Fountain Choir.
A bold collaboration of local musicians bringing to life the beautiful yet little-known music of the early European Renaissance, some of which would certainly have been heard by this greatest of European Renaissance figures. Our music ranges from the sombre and sacred to the comic and raucous via love, grasshoppers and swans. Leonardo would have approved of the programme’s scope and diversity! And we include poetry of the period, in Italian and English, with extracts from Leonardo’s notebooks.
Admission is free, with a retiring collection for charity.
