Charities

Throughout the year, many events are organised in support of a large variety of charities. The following have been adopted for regular support:

Christian Aid: Door to door collection and other events. Everyone is equal in the sight of God; yet we live in a world where poverty still persists. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. But together we have the power to transform lives. Christian Aid works in 37 countries, with people of all faiths and none, to stand up for dignity, equality and justice.

Save the Children: A regular "bring and buy" stall at the back of the church, supported by all the community, and other events. Operating in 118 countries around the world Save the Children works with children to create a world where they don’t just survive, but thrive. "Every child has the potential to change the world."

WaterAid: Our Sunday School's chosen charity. WaterAid has teams in 28 countries across the world, working with their partners to transform millions of lives every year by improving access to clean water, toilets and hygiene.

Coffee Concerts: Several series of concerts - Saturday morning Coffee concerts, Spring Concerts, Jazz Month, Piano Recitals - over 20 concerts annually at St Edward's, are dedicated to a chosen charity each year. This year it is the work of our own Forget Me Not Cafe and Support Group.

Charity & Social Groups: Several groups meet socially and include charitable work in their activities.

Forthcoming Charity Events: Some of the groups and events taking place in the near future.
