The Centennial Service to commemorate the death of Willie Seager was held at St Edward's Church on 21st February 2016, attended by members of the Seager family and representatives of the Willie Seager Memorial Trust. The Trust provides 10 one-bedroom bungalows in Westville Road for the accommodation of single elderly and retired merchant seamen. Sir William Henry Seager (1862-1941) was a shipping magnate, and Liberal MP. He built the original William Seager Memorial Homes in memory of his son Willie who was killed in action in 1916 at the age of 23.
