Poppy Rocks
Remembrance Rocks created by Forget Me Not Cafe.
Our commemoration of the centenary: the time when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.
One cross was presented for each of the names on the memorials. Members of the congregation took turns to read the names and place the crosses.
The commemoration began on Saturday evening with a moving performance of Mozart's Requiem by St Edward's Choir and Orchestra, including readings of letters from men in the trenches. On Sunday morning there was an Act of Remembrance when the names on the memorials were read, and a Two Minute Silence at 11am. The Parish Service of Remembrance started at 6.30pm as part of the national “Battle’s O’er Tribute”. In the Act of Remembrance members of the congregation read out individual names of those commemorated on the memorials, and the Two Minute Silence was preceded and ended by Last Post and Reveille.
